As soon as I get more clients, I’ll…

I can’t leave work, or I’ll…

When my kids are grown and moved out,I’ll…

Got Goals?

Inspiration without application improves nothing, benefits no one and fans the flames of mediocrity! … Paul Shearstone 2002

Ask anybody on January 2nd if they have New Years Resolutions or goals and nine out of ten will say, “Yes!” …Ask the same people about their resolutions three months later and they’ll look at you like a small goat discovering a new fence for the first time.

All good intentions aside, exhaustive studies have shown only 3% of the population engage in some form of goal-setting and only 1% on average, write them down.

Appreciating and communicating your value

It’s a common scenario. Although the specific circumstances may differ, the challenge often remains the same: we professional women seldom understand our true value. 7 Ways To Ignite Your Vision

Probably the hardest skill to teach, and the one of the most vital to posess, is vision. Vision requires discipline in order to generate images of what you would like to become, both professionally and personally. This is an intensive process to determine which direction you want to go, and will require a little time and effort on your part. You can have a bad week and it is okay. Your goal for that week may be in jeopardy, but that won’t stop you from reaching your destination, your ultimate vision or your picture of what you will be. If your vision is to be the top salesperson in your district, for example, you will figure out that at the present time you are not qualified to do it. The answer would be…”what do I need to do to get qualified?”. Map out specific checkpoints, or goals, and stick with it. The bigger picture will outweigh the short term disappoinments. The true pro knows it is just a matter of time and preparation before they reach their destination!

A Quick Checklist for Improving Your Life

1. Learn About You

If you don’t know who you are and why you think and act the way you do, it’s gonna be really difficult to make any positive changes in your life. Take a look first at your parents and close family members. Think about how they look and how they deal with life. This is the basis for who you are today. You’ve been instilled with the tendency to think as they think and act as they act. It’s just the way it is.

Now think about the big events in your life so far. The ones that stand out in your mind. The ones that made an impression – negative or positive – on you. These events have likely influenced how you think and act today. Oh sure, we can add in every little thing that you’ve ever seen, heard, felt, smelled or touched because “everything” has had some effect on you - on how you think and deal with life. But it’s the “biggies” that usually have the most impact.
